DDUITL is a free software which permits you fully integrate different radio devices with a CAT radio, like PowerSDR. DDUITL is a project by Steve, K5FR and I suggest you to find all information in K5FR wiki-like web site directly. K5FR, a Flex-Radio and PowerSDR user, wrote and still maintains this extremely powerful software, which enhance missing integration functionalities that Flex-radio radio are not able to provide directly. DDUTIL is full of functionalities contained in very few windows: this could be a little difficult to understand at the beginning, but after a carefully reading you will appreciate the Steve effort. He is doing a great job to support ham community continuously improving and documenting his software: for any question he or his gdiscussion goup will give you fast answers. DDUtil permits you, as PowerSDR user, to: a) Connects Band Switching Devices. b) Connect up to four (4) Radio Control Programs simultaneously. c) Remotely open & close Flex Profiler, a stand-alone configuration management program that lets you store the state of certain PowerSDR console user controls in an XML file. d) Lookup Antenna Heading thru Rotor Control. e) Create Macro Functions. f) Control SteppIR Antenna. g) Remote Readout Digital Wattmeters. h) Control power amplifiers. I) Monitor Flex-5000 PA Temperature. Tips It is important to understand that DDUtil plays the role of a gateway using virtual and real ports: it is important to map your system design and do a port planning (see K5FR web site) like for example: Com Type Function --- ---- -------- 1 Hdwe spare 2 Hdwe Passive Listener 3 Hdwe Rotor 4 Hdwe LP-100 5 Hdwe SteppIR Data Out port - 30 Virtual DDUtil Radio port 31 Virtual PowerSDR CAT port - 7 Virtual DXLab Commander (or HRD) 17 Virtual DDUtil RCP1 - 8 Virtual DXLab WinWarbler PTT 18 Virtual DDUtil CAT PTT -- 9 Virtual DXLab WinWarbler CW port 19 Virtual PowerSDR Keyer secondary connection -- 10 Virtual RCP2 Host program (MixW) 20 Virtual DDUtil RCP2 --
I used N8Vbcom driver and to make different virtual and hardware COM device to talk each other. Basic Functions Let me describe briefly the mains tabs: Port: It is the main configuration menu; it permits you to define the source port from which you get CAT commands (radio CAT) and the many destination ports (pass listen, RCP1, RCP2 Parallel port, slave radio) you want to integrate.
BCD10: in my application I interface a BCD 10 UCB card using a LPT parallel card ; it is normally used to control Yaesu QUADRA power amplifier, and can be personalized (as I did); it uses a easy configuration XML files to configure a BCDinterface protocol. RCP: it permits you to integrate up to 4 softwares. Other: it really a full page ! From here you can configure 3 different powermeters (arraysolution Powermaster, LP-100, wavenode) and Steppir antennas. Misc: you can control power amplifier (ICOM and Alpha 87). Macros: you can associate PowerSDR macro to buttons using a editable XML file. Rotator: you can control antenna direction; you can configure right direction starting from home coordinates and using the internal database which contailn all dxcc countries. Setup: you can full setup all control interfaces. ExtCtrl: it permits you to interface PowerSDRusing XVTR control panel setup.
