My experience with SDR
The first time I listen a SDR1000 was in Pordenone hamfest, where in the middle of noise, people speaking, heavy QRM from the local special event station, noise was stronger that signals.
The selectivity of SDR1000 was really impressive, together with the DSP software filtering.
Beppe IK3VIG is an enthusiastic SDR OM and made me a short demo of his products.
I was really convinced that my modified IC 765 was difficult to substitute, but I wanted to try the new approach to radio.
First I got the receiver version of SDR1000 and I put it in my shack, with my antennas.
I have been doing all possible comparison, on all bands (particular low one, in all situations (contest and low signal alone) for 4 months.
In the meantime I studied all the features that SDR1000 permits you to have from operating point of view.
Even if you don't have knobs, you will find SDR1000 really more usable than traditional radio; for example the pan adapter interface is really comfortable and easy2use.
It is really easier to interface your radio with ham software and realizes a full automatic station, capable of controlling external device as remote relays, transverter and so on.
At the end I put IC765 behind and now I use only SDR1000.
